Tyler was born in Santa Rosa, California and considers himself a native of Galt, California. After completing High School, he attended the University of San Diego where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Tyler received his legal education at Pacific McGeorge School of Law. While attending McGeorge, Tyler obtained four certificates of concentration in Business, Taxation, Capital Lawyering, and Trial and Appellate Advocacy. While pursuing a concentration in Capital Lawyering, Tyler was a clinical student in McGeorge’s Legislative and Public Policy clinic, where he attempted to author and lobby for landmark legislation in housing. He received the CALI Excellence award for his efforts in the clinic for both the Fall and Spring semesters. He was also a competitor on the Pacific McGeorge Mock Trial Competition Team, where he competed at competitions such as the National Civil Trial Competition and the South Texas Mock trial Challenge. Tyler remains with Mcgeorge’s Mock Trial Team as a competition coach. In May 2023, Tyler graduated from McGeorge with distinction and was admitted to the Roger Traynor Honor’s Society.
After taking the California Bar Exam in July 2023, Tyler immediately began work as a Deputy District Attorney for Stanislaus County. During his time there, Tyler prosecuted approximately 25% of the county’s misdemeanor cases and appeared in court daily. By the time Tyler moved on from the DA’s office, he had been prosecuting both violent and serious felonies from arraignment through to jury trial for several months. Tyler currently resides in Sacramento, California, where he hopes to settle down and start a family of his own. In his free time he enjoys camping trips, hiking, traveling, watching football, and playing music on his guitar.
